Abhay Venkatesh Rao is a graduate student at the Nicholas School of the Environment, where he studies energy and business sustainability. He is interested in the nuts and bolts of the energy transition and approaches his research with the James E. Rogers Energy Access Project on climate finance in this vein. He has also recently worked on consulting projects in renewable hydrogen and nature-based solutions.
He previously worked for eight years as a social impact consultant in India. In his career to date, he has helped pass a national sanitation policy, built strategies for leading nonprofits, raised over $10 million in funding, and managed several project teams and direct reports. He has an undergraduate degree in economic development from IIT Madras.
