Gabriel is Managing Director and Head of CrossBoundary Energy Access (CBEA). CBEA is Africa’s first project finance facility for mini-grids and has raised funding from ARCH, Bank of America, Microsoft Climate Innovation Fund, and Rockefeller to invest in solar mini-grids for households and businesses across the continent. While at CrossBoundary, Gabriel also established the Mini-Grid Innovation Lab, an R&D platform that tests business model innovations for mini-grids in Africa. Prior to CrossBoundary, Gabriel worked as an Associate at Augusta & Co., a London-based investment bank advising developers, utilities, and institutional investors on placing capital into over 2GW of renewable energy projects and businesses across Europe, and in originating and structuring corporate PPAs. Prior to that, he worked for the UK’s Department of Energy and Climate Change, advising the UK Government on energy policy. His work on the off-grid sector in Sub-Saharan Africa has been published in the Financial Times’ ‘This is Africa,’ the Brookings Institution, Nature Energy, and Greentech Media. Gabriel has a Master of Arts in Physics & Philosophy from the University of Oxford.
