Dhruv Jhaveri
Graduate Research Assistant
Dhruv Jhaveri is a Master of Environmental Management student who is passionate about exploring the intersection of energy, climate, and sustainability. Prior to Duke University, he worked as a supply chain optimization engineer at an oil and gas company in India. His experience working in a petroleum refinery gave him a unique perspective on the unequal production, access, and consumption of energy and the unequal distribution of environmental risks and benefits. Realizing the urgency of the situation, he left his job and began to focus on renewable energy consulting projects before embarking on his academic journey at Duke University.
Dhruv has received the EDF Climate Corps Fellowship, where he worked with Amazon and played a vital role in identifying, evaluating, and reducing Scope 1 and 2 emissions. His work also included conducting energy audits and developing a decarbonization strategy for Amazon to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2040. He has also represented Duke at two United Nations Climate Change Conferences (COP26 and COP27), where he worked closely with governments and non-profit organizations in capacity-building efforts. Dhruv is an energy enthusiast and loves talking about all things energy – technologies, policies, markets, finance, law, etc. He holds an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from the Institute of Chemical Technology, India.
