The Energy Access Project is focused on developing solutions in the electricity space, especially rural areas where most of the world’s 1.1 billion people lacking access to electricity live.

Electricity service quality is a major challenge in developing countries, undermining both utility performance and consumer welfare. New evidence from the study of a large-scale infrastructure intervention in Karachi, Pakistan, shows that replacing easily tapped wires with anti-theft cables can significantly reduce illegal connections and improve the reliability of power supply.
