Mirna Elsharief is a Senior Policy Associate at Duke University Energy Access Project, within the Nicholas Institute for Energy, Environment & Sustainability (NIEES).

Mirna Elsharief is a Senior Policy Associate at the Energy Access Project; her work is dedicated to advancing practical and evidence-based solutions to advance adaptation and resilience investments in developing economies and emerging markets. Prior to joining the Institute, Mirna served at the Egyptian Ministry of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, where she worked on international development partnerships and strategic policy making. Through her contributions to COP27 initiatives, such as the Resilience Monetization and Credits Initiatives and the Sharm El Sheikh Guidebook for Just Financing, she explored the role of innovative financing in mobilizing resources for equitable energy pathways, while addressing the critical linkages between energy access, climate resilience, and sustainable development.
Mirna holds a Master’s degree in International Economics from Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University, and a dual Bachelor’s degrees in Economics from Cairo University and Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University.
